SQUARE D® ALTERNATING PLUG-IN RELAY FROM SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC CONTROLS PUMP LOADS

PALATINE, Ill. — August 01, 2008 — The Schneider Electric Relay Competency Center (SE Relays LLC) announces the release of the Square D® brand 8501KA series alternating relay. This feature rich product offers a direct replacement for competitive alternating plug-in relays that are utilized in the pump industry to control multiple loads.

“The 8501KA alternating relay was developed to provide a superior and cost-competitive alternative to existing alternating plug-in relays,” said Dipin Jain, marketing product manager, Relay Competency Center. “The relay offers 12 Amp contact ratings while utilizing less space on the DIN rail. The product also works well as a drop-in replacement in the MRO industry, and offers features that appeal to OEM panel builders.”

While the 8501KA alternating relay specifically is designed for the pumping industry, its unique design is suitable for any application that requires a device to provide switching capabilities to control multiple loads. Customers can reduce bearing and pump wear caused by long run times by utilizing the relay’s ability to toggle the load between multiple devices.

Several contact and voltage configurations are available with the 8501KA alternating relays. The socket-compatible products have a top-mounted toggle switch to select the alternating mode applicable to the system. When used with the mating Square D brand socket, the relays have UL Listed approval status. This status streamlines agency approval when incorporating the product into a new design or replacing a competitive product in an existing system.

Common applications for the 8501KA alternating relays include irrigation systems and water treatment (pumping stations), compressors and HVAC fans. Like all 8501K relays, the KA series conforms to numerous international standards and meets the requirements of the European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive.

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ENHANCES ZELIO® RELAY PRODUCT FAMILY WITH UL LISTED STATUS AND EXPANDED OPTIONS

PALATINE, Ill. — March 01, 2008 — The Schneider Electric Relay Competency Center (SE Relays LLC) has enhanced its popular Telemecanique® brand Zelio® line of plug-in relays with a UL Listed approval status when used with Zelio sockets. The line also features increased motor ratings at 120 and 240 VAC and expanded resistive ratings.

“The UL agency approvals and new options available allow Schneider Electric to offer a complete line of Zelio plug-in relays that provide an unprecedented level of performance, features and accessories for the most common applications on the market,” said Michael O’Donnell, marketing product manager, Relay Competency Center. “The newly acquired UL Listed status will streamline the agency certification process by grouping the relay and socket combination as an acceptable UL system, saving time and money for industrial users.”

Schneider Electric also has added a plain cover version of the relays to prevent inadvertent actuation of the relay’s contacts. In applications where the relay is exposed to customer interaction, elimination of the manual push button may be considered a safety requirement.

Zelio Plug-in Relays
The plug-in relay line is comprised of four product families—the RSB interface relays, the RXM miniature relays, the RUM universal relays and RPM/RPF power relays—combining many size, function and capability options to fit a variety of applications. The space-saving relays are easy to integrate into existing panels and offer a variety of features that simplify installation and integration.

Common applications for the Zelio plug-in relays include industrial machinery for conveying, packaging and palletizing, as well as in facility and infrastructure applications involving compressors, HVAC, pumps and water treatment (pumping systems). They conform to numerous international standards and the requirements of the European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive.
